What to do in Bologna?

September 13, 2008 · Print This Article

Bologna is the most under-rated city in the whole of Italy.  Bologna has its own individual charm that is completely different to anywhere else you’ll visit in Italy. To begin to get a feel for this then you just have to meanders through the lively history soaked streets to start to appreciate what we mean. On this journey you will take in fascinating landmarks such as the World War II commemorative display on piazza del Nettunoand the ornate Neptune Fountain.

Bologna is one of Italy’s most forward thinking cities and home to the country’s first university, as well as the exquisite Museo Civico Archelogico museum. If you are a foodie likes us then a stroll through the archways of via dell’ Archiginnasio is highly recommended.  An absolute smorgasbord for fragrances, colours and lashings of wine and local produce will let you see why Bologna is a city apart.   That is why the Pronto car hire team love visiting Bologna some much – you almost sense it the minute to leave the airport.

If you are planning to fly into Bologna airport and use this as a base to explore the region by car then you have made an excellent choice.  Within easy driving range is Parma or simply drive your car through the Emilia Romagna Region to soak up some of the scenery and history.   If you are doing day trips then ensure that you plan your evenings well as Bologna has plenty to do when it comes alive at night.   Throughout the year there is a catalogue of events ranging from the Motor Show in December where you can see the latest Ferrari’s and Lamborghinis or October’s Bologna Festival for a more cultured appreciation of life.

Over the course of the year the Pronto Car Hire team in Bologna will be reviewing all of the best things there are to do, see and stay in this city.  Indeed, if you have been here then we would love to hear what you did or suggest doing in Bologna.   Just fill in a comment on the site.   Until then – ciao!
